Congratulations to Anthony T., a Grade 12 student at Senator O'Connor College School, who was awarded as one of the valedictorians of the Toronto Police Services Youth in Policing Initiative summer program (YIPI) this past summer. The program was held at the Toronto Police College in Etobicoke and ran from July to August.

YIPI is a province-wide series of police internships run in partnership with the City of Toronto and the Province of Ontario’s Ministry of Children and Youth Services. It matches outstanding students with local police services where they learn valuable skills and engage in community based training and activities. Only 153 applicants were chosen from a pool of thousands of applicants to be part of this summer's Toronto YIPI program.

Anthony, who is also Captain of the Senator O'Connor Robotics Team and an active member of The Royal Canadian Air Cadets, was awarded three medals in the categories of: Leadership, Team Player and Initiative. As well as becoming certified in First Aid, Anthony led 13 other students in a drill display to an audience of his peers and special guests.
