Bishop Allen Academy is proud to celebrate the remarkable achievements of Grade 12 student Prerana M., who has been named a University of Toronto National Scholar, an honour reserved for the country’s most exceptional secondary school students. The award, valued at $148,000 over four years, covers full tuition and residence, and Prerana has proudly accepted the offer to pursue engineering at U of T.
In addition to this prestigious recognition, Prerana was offered two Schulich Leader Scholarships, both from the University of Toronto and Western University, valued at $120,000 each. She was also named a finalist for the highly competitive Loran Award, receiving a $6,000 finalist scholarship, and earned the Western National Scholarship valued at $65,000. Closer to home, Prerana is one of only eight students across the Toronto Catholic District School Board to receive the TCDSB Student Achievement Award.
Currently ranked second in a graduating class of 382 students, Prerana is widely admired for her exceptional intellect, curiosity, and compassion. She has consistently demonstrated academic excellence across a wide range of disciplines, from Canadian Law to Computer Science, often choosing the most challenging path in pursuit of meaningful, real-world problem-solving.
Her accomplishments extend well beyond the classroom. Prerana has developed a homelessness solution with SHAD Canada, worked as a research intern at Ontario Tech University, served as Managing Editor for Teen Magazine, and even pitched a biotech start-up in Silicon Valley. Her initiative, drive, and fearlessness to explore new frontiers are matched only by her generosity and leadership. She is known for guiding her peers, building consensus, and always uplifting those around her.
Recognized as one of Canada’s 100 Most Powerful Women and a Dragon’s Den Deal Winner, Prerana embodies what it means to be a 21st-century changemaker. She will serve as the salutatorian at Bishop Allen Academy’s upcoming graduation ceremony, an honour befitting a young leader whose impact is already being felt across her school, community, and country.
The entire Bishop Allen Academy community congratulates Prerana on her achievements and looks forward to the many ways she will continue to inspire and lead in the years ahead.
