Bishop Allen Academy is proud to share that Grade 12 student Sophia L. received a special invitation from The Honourable Édith Dumont, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, to take part once again in her annual celebration of the Francophonie.
At this distinguished event, Sophia demonstrated her deep engagement with both the French language and the arts by performing a selection of saxophone pieces. She also contributed to an insightful literary discussion featuring two significant works of contemporary Francophone culture: Kolkhoze by Emmanuel Carrère and Un livre, une communauté: Récit collectif des aînés francophones du Grand Toronto. The latter, recently published by the Salon du livre de Toronto, brings together the stories of Francophone elders who have played an essential role in preserving their language and cultural heritage within a predominantly anglophone environment.
We extend our warmest congratulations to Sophia for her outstanding representation of our school community and for her continued dedication to promoting Francophone culture.
