From Tuesday, March 24 to Saturday, March 28, Bishop Allen’s Boys and Girls Curling Teams competed at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) Curling Championships in Thunder Bay. Both teams competed hard and represented the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) and the Toronto District Catholic Athletic Association (TDCAA) with pride. Curling opponents often get very strong as you venture outside of the city, but both of our teams found ways to win games and stay competitive in tough matches against eventual medal winners on both sides. Our Boys Team was an extra end loss away from a 3-1 record and advancing, showing their skill, determination, and confidence throughout the tournament.

To cap off the experience, the Boys Team won the OFSAA Sportsmanship Award, with our Girls Team narrowly finishing as runner up. Their curling was impressive to watch, but it was their positive attitudes, camaraderie, and the friendships they built with students from across the province that truly stood out. The Sportsmanship Award is voted on throughout the tournament by coaches and teams. With 40 total teams, we are incredibly proud of their achievement.

Overall, it was a memorable journey filled with many hours of curling, some sightseeing, plenty of Persian donuts, and lots of laughs. It was a Northern Ontario curling adventure our students will never forget!
