Father John Redmond Catholic Secondary School and Regional Arts Centre is celebrating a phenomenal achievement by Grade 9 student Maeve A., who captured not one but two gold medals at the 2025 Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) Track and Field Championships held at York University from June 5 to 7, 2025.

Competing in the Novice Girls 800m and 1500m, Maeve delivered back-to-back standout performances on the provincial stage. In both races, she showcased incredible focus, strategic pacing, and unmatched determination, crossing the finish line first and cementing herself as one of the top young middle-distance runners in Ontario.

What makes Maeve’s accomplishments even more remarkable is that this was her first appearance at OFSAA, a level of competition that many athletes only reach after years of training and experience. Despite the pressure of the big stage, Maeve remained composed and confident, rising to the challenge and delivering personal bests in both events.

In the 800m, Maeve not only claimed the gold but also broke the Father John Redmond school record, a goal she had set at the beginning of the season. Her drive to improve, both in training and competition, has been evident all year, and her results speak for themselves.

Maeve’s success at OFSAA caps off a truly unforgettable season. Over the course of the spring, she consistently dominated at local and regional meets, set new records, and earned top finishes in every event she entered. Her work ethic, humility, and team spirit have made her a standout not just on the track, but in our school community.

We are incredibly proud of Maeve’s achievements and can’t wait to see what she sets her sights on next. With her passion for running and her relentless pursuit of excellence, the future is bright—and we’ll be cheering her on every step of the way.

Congratulations, Maeve! You’ve made Redmond proud.
