On Friday, October 24, Father John Redmond Catholic Secondary School's Cross Country team competed at the Toronto District Catholic Athletic Association (TDCAA) Championships at Sunnybrook Park, putting together an incredible day of racing. The team came home with two championship banners, nine Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) qualifiers, and the overall girls’ title for the seventh straight year.
The day was filled with outstanding performances from start to finish. Emme D. powered through the trails to become the Novice Girls Champion, leading the next generation of Redmond runners with confidence and determination. Maeve A. ran a fantastic race to finish second overall in the Junior Girls division, while Marisa K. (Grade 11) took home the title of Senior Girls Champion after a dominant performance against a strong field of older competitors.
The Senior Girls team once again proved to be a powerhouse, qualifying for OFSAA with an incredible team effort. Alongside Marisa’s win, Juliette A. finished 4th, Tessa M. 5th, Kristina D. 28th, Seraphina P. 29th, and Elysse R. 46th, earning the team banner and showing the depth and strength of Redmond’s program.
Adding to the list of provincial qualifiers, Emilia P. earned her OFSAA spot with a 4th-place finish in the Junior Girls race, while Madison S. secured her place with an impressive 7th-place finish in the Novice Girls division.
With these results, Redmond continues its proud tradition of cross country excellence, capturing the overall girls’ title for the seventh year in a row. This incredible streak reflects the athletes’ hard work, dedication, and strong team culture.
The team now looks ahead to the OFSAA Championships, taking place this weekend at Heart Lake Conservation Area in Brampton. Coaches Mulligan and Reilly are extremely proud of every member of the team and can’t wait to see how the girls perform on the provincial stage.
Congratulations to all our runners on an amazing TDCAA Championship. Go Redhawks!
