On Tuesday, February 17, Father John Redmond Catholic Secondary School's Band Program proudly participated in the Ontario Band Association’s Golden Horseshoe Band Festival. Students worked incredibly hard in preparation for their performances under the leadership of their conductors Ms. Pear and Mr. Pincente, and their dedication was rewarded with exceptional results.

The Senior Symphonic Band and Intermediate Wind Ensemble both earned a Gold standing, while the Junior Concert Band was awarded a Silver in their first-ever major festival performance. Even more impressively, all three ensembles received invitations to MusicFest Nationals.

A special highlight of the day was the conducting debut of Grade 12 student Leonard H., who led the warm-up chorale for the Senior Symphonic Band. Congratulations as well to students Stefano L. and Gianluca C., who received Leadership Awards in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the Redmond Band Program.

Following their performances, students had the privilege of working with some of Canada’s leading music educators. They left the festival proud of their accomplishments, inspired by the feedback they received, and motivated as they look ahead to the next steps for the program.

Congratulations to all performers on an outstanding achievement!
