On Wednesday, March 4, the Grade 11 Regional Arts Program (RAP) Dance class at Father John Redmond Catholic Secondary School had the incredible opportunity to participate in a ballet masterclass with Tanya Howard, former Principal Dancer with the National Ballet of Canada.
Tanya joined The National Ballet of Canada in 1998 and was promoted to First Soloist in 2007. Over the course of her distinguished career, she performed many technically demanding and iconic roles in celebrated productions such as The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella.
During the masterclass, Tanya shared her expertise, artistry, and passion for ballet by guiding students through technique and movement while also offering insight into the discipline and dedication required of professional dancers. Her presence in the studio was inspiring and motivating for our dance students.
