On September 21 (Monday), the Father John Redmond Catholic Secondary School community gathered for a deeply moving opening mass to begin the new academic year. The date held profound significance, marking exactly 45 years to the day since the passing of Father John Redmond himself.
The overwhelming turnout reflected the strength of the school spirit, filling the church far beyond its seating capacity. Students and staff filled every pew, with many ultimately being invited to sit on the altar steps to accommodate the massive crowd.
Following the liturgy, the community welcomed guest speaker Andre Metivier, former Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) graduate and teacher. Metivier delivered an inspiring presentation, sharing personal reflections and stories about the life, legacy, and enduring impact of Father John Redmond, beautifully bridging our school's rich history with our bright future.
