On Wednesday, October 27, the Father John Redmond Music Program travelled to Roy Thomson Hall to hear Moments, a concert presented by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO). Featuring members of the orchestra in solo performances, the concert offered students a unique opportunity to appreciate the artistry and skill of professional musicians while gaining a behind-the-scenes look at the preparation involved in bringing a musical performance to life.
In addition to enjoying the music, students gained valuable insights into effective practice techniques, approaches to different musical situations and mental health strategies designed to support musicians performing at the highest level.
Highlights of the concert included the Scaramouche Suite, featuring saxophonist Eric Abramovitz, and a captivating oboe performance by Hingyi Cui. Students also enjoyed excerpts ranging from Richard Strauss’s Sunrise to John Williams’s iconic Main Title Theme from Star Wars.
