On February 19, the East York-Scarborough Reading Association recognized three teachers who have demonstrated outstanding work in literacy. Their accomplishments were celebrated at the Reading for the Love of It Conference Dinner. Loretto Abbey’s very own English teacher, Oscar Lopes, was one of the recipients of the Reading Award. The award was formally presented by Michael Caccamo, TCDSB Superintendent of Safe Schools, Curriculum Leadership, and Innovation.
Mr. Lopes has demonstrated a lasting influence on student learning through innovative teaching and initiatives. He has shared literacy expertise with colleagues. By fostering a "reading for fun" culture, Mr. Lopes has successfully turned reluctant readers into lifelong book lovers. We thank Mr. Lopes for his commitment to literacy education. Congratulations, Mr. Lopes!
