Loretto Abbey’s leadership students raised just over $2,500 to support the Meagan Bebenek Foundation, an organization dedicated to pediatric brain cancer research that helps more children live cancer-free lives. More than 30 teachers at the Abbey volunteered to take part in the “Pie for a Purpose” fundraiser, where students donated money to reach different tiers for the honour of pie-ing teachers while supporting this valuable cause.

In recognition of the school’s involvement, Unna Belle Perruzza, a student ambassador from Loretto Abbey, was invited to speak at De La Salle during Meagan’s Hug on May 9, where she highlighted the hard work and dedication of the Loretto Abbey community in supporting the Foundation’s important mission. This initiative would not have been possible without the support and guidance of the Grade 11 GPP30 Leadership students and their teachers, Ms. Steele and Ms. Simovonian.

Loretto Abbey will continue to raise awareness of the Meagan Bebenek Foundation at the Girl Meets W.I.R.L. conference at the CEC (Catholic Education Centre) in an effort to encourage other schools within the Toronto Catholic District School Board to get involved with the Foundation and support its important work.
