Science

The courses offered by the Science Department are grounded around the development of core scientific skills with an emphasis on observation, investigation, analysis, and communication. We are firmly of the belief that our students are curious about the world around them and our task is to provide a platform for them to engage with that curiosity.

Our students are challenged to pause and think about our place in the world and the potential of science as a creative discipline for positive change.

Students work on 21st century skills such as collaboration, communication, creativity, resiliency, leadership through a combination of diverse learning experiences with a strong emphasis on guiding students through the inquiry process through experiments, design projects and research challenges.

Enrichment Opportunities

There are many opportunities for extra enrichment throughout our courses including but not limited to:

Science Competitions

Junior science students are encouraged to participate in the Toronto Science Fair, and some have recently taken home some gold medals for their inspiring efforts!

Our senior students participate in a wide variety of contests such as Ontario Association of Physics Teachers contest, Sir Isaac Newton and McMaster Physics contest, and the University of Toronto Biology Competition.

Enriched/Pre-Advanced Placement Classes

The classes provide an opportunity to seek enrichment in learning and work on concepts from University level science.
