On Wednesday, January 28, St. Mary Catholic Academy proudly hosted our first annual Elementary Girls Basketball Tournament, welcoming teams from St. Anthony, Our Lady of Lourdes, Holy Family, and Bishop Macdonell Catholic Schools.

The day was filled with energy, sportsmanship, and excitement as the girls showcased their skills, teamwork, and determination across five competitive games. With professional referees on hand, games were run smoothly and on time—especially during the exciting semi-final and championship matchups.

A special congratulations to Bishop Macdonell, who captured the tournament championship with an outstanding performance marked by teamwork, effort, and sportsmanship.

To celebrate individual and team achievements, an MVP was selected from each school and awarded stylish SMCA swag, while the top three teams received medals. The tournament concluded with a lively skills competition, featuring Minute-to-Win-It challenges for layups, free throws, and three-point shots, with one player from each school representing their team.

Coaches shared overwhelmingly positive feedback, praising the tournament for being well-organized, fair, and fun. The event also provided a wonderful opportunity for SMCA to connect with elementary students who will be joining us next September.

We are proud to begin what we hope will become a lasting SMCA tradition and look forward to welcoming even more schools next year!
