St. Patrick Catholic Secondary School proudly hosted its annual Summer Transition Program in July.

Over the course of the month, students participated in daily programming that focused on developing foundational literacy and numeracy skills, while also learning essential tips and tricks for navigating high school life. From navigating timetables to understanding expectations and building relationships, students were guided through strategies to help them feel prepared for the upcoming school year. The program also provided opportunities for exploration through six fun and educational field trips, including visits to the Royal Ontario Museum, Ripley’s Aquarium, Kennedy Bowl, the Toronto Islands, a neighbourhood walking tour, and a day at the beach and movie theatre.

In addition to academics and field trips, students were introduced to life at St. Patrick through sessions on extracurricular activities, our arts program, and presentations from Guidance, which offered support and insight into course selection, mental health, myBlueprint and academic planning. The program also featured guest speakers who shared critical messages with students, including a presentation on Accident Awareness and a visit from Toronto Police Social Media Officer Megan, who spoke about online safety and responsible digital citizenship.

To round out the experience, students participated in a variety of fun and community-building activities such as daily icebreakers, a Toilet Paper Wedding challenge, and a talent show that highlighted the creativity and school spirit of the incoming class.

Students also attended a school Mass to mark the beginning of their high school journey and participated in the voting process to select their Grade 9 Student Council Representative, giving them an early opportunity to engage in school leadership.

At St. Patrick, we have the continued belief that every student deserves to feel safe, supported, and comfortable in their new school home. By the end of the month, students left not only more confident in their academic abilities but also feeling a true sense of belonging at St. Patrick.

Wishing all Grade 9s a strong start to the school year in September 2025!
