St. Patrick’s Advent Charity Campaign hosted its kickoff assembly in the auditorium for staff and students. Led by our student leaders, the assembly highlighted the needs and experiences of the less fortunate in our city. Key moments included our choir’s rendition of The Lord Hears the Cry of the Poor, Ms. Reedy’s Grade 9 dramatic performance, and an empowering speech by Grade 10 student Milki T., who reflected on the true meaning of Advent and our ability to be someone’s reason for hope.
But the assembly was just the beginning — now the real work starts. From November 24 to December 12, the Advent Charity Team will be collecting food donations for the Our Lady of Lourdes Food Bank. The four most requested items are rice, beans, soup, and canned tomatoes or canned tomato sauce. Monetary donations are also welcome and will be used to purchase grocery store gift cards for local families in need.
We call on all who are able to give, as reflected in Proverbs 3:27: “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.”
