Tamil Canadian Heritage Month

Banner for Tamil Canadian Heritage month. On the right are the words "JANUARY IS TAMIL CANADIAN HERITAGE MONTH" with the TCDSB logo below and below it in both English and Tamil is the Bible quote "You shall eat the fruit of the labour of your hands; you shall be blessed and it shall be well with you." Psalm 128:2. On the left is the theme for 2023 - Tamils in Trade and Commerce - Past, present and future. Tamil Heritage Month celebrates the rich and diverse history of the Tamil-Canadian community and pays tribute to the many contributions made to the social, cultural, political and economic strength of Canada. This year, we apply our focus on Tamils in Trade and Commerce as a way to support entrepreneurs and local businesses, in addition to showcasing the various pathways available for our Toronto Catholic students to consider. Throughout January, the TCDSB will have a wide variety of resources and organized events that we hope will inspire our students and staff to learn and celebrate Tamil culture and the many contributions made to our wonderful and diverse Toronto Catholic learning community and beyond.

January is Tamil Canadian Heritage Month. It is an occasion to recognize and celebrate the many achievements and contributions of Tamil Canadians to Canada and an occasion to acknowledge and enjoy the narratives and wisdom of the Tamil culture.
