Ukrainian Canadian Heritage Month

The Board of Trustees has proclaimed September as Ukrainian Canadian Heritage Month, with September 7 as Ukrainian Canadian Heritage Day at the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB).

On August 24, 2021 Ukrainians around the world celebrated the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence. On August 24, 1991, Ukraine's Parliament declared their country an indivisible, democratic, and independent State. The history of Ukraine is defined by the Ukrainian people’s enduring faith in their right to live free in their own land, and to choose their common destiny as a nation.

As we celebrate Ukrainian heritage month this September, we will explore the contributions of women of Ukrainian heritage to Canada and the world. From poets to politicians, we will showcase well-known women from Canada and Ukraine who have paved the way for future generations.
