On October 3, 2025, the halls of Loretto College School were buzzing with creativity, curiosity, and innovation as students celebrated the annual STEAM Day, a dynamic and empowering event dedicated to Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics. Grade 8 girls from many elementary schools joined the LCS STEAM teachers and grade 10 STEAM students to participate in this full-day of learning.
Designed specifically for our all-girls learning environment, the day sparked inspiration and encouraged every student to see herself as a future scientist, engineer, artist, or social justice activist. Through interactive and hands-on group activities, students explored the intersections between the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG), the needs required for thriving local and global communities, and ways that students innovate solutions for issues that require innovation.
Highlights of the day included a UNSDG scavenger hunt and a science, arts, and technology-based water filtration challenge. Students then presented their completed projects and logos.
By presenting students with information and the tools required for success, they were able to see themselves as problem solvers, creators, and leaders.
At Loretto College – the school with the big heart – we believe that when girls are given the tools, encouragement, and opportunities they need, they can become successful leaders in so many STEAM fields.
