On Wednesday, November 5, and Thursday, November 6, Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) students from Madonna Catholic Secondary School, Loretto College School, and Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts attended two training certifications at the University of Toronto – University of St. Michael's College: Events Coordination and Book Repair Conservation.

The University of St. Michael's College has a state-of-the-art conservation studio in the John M. Kelly Library for book repair and conservation, as well as offers courses in bookbinding and book arts through its continuing education and continuing studies programs. The conservation studio handles the repair and preservation of the library's special collections and rare materials.

Upon completing the certification training, students were treated to a wonderful lunch at Brennan Hall and then were presented with their certificates by Professor David Sylvester, President and Vice-Chancellor of USMC, U of T. After the ceremony, students were led on a campus tour.

A heartfelt thanks to Michael Salvatori, David Sylvester, Disha, Esma, Michelle Tong, Jessica Barr, and Madelaine Kukovica for organizing such a wonderful day for our students. The students thoroughly enjoyed their time at the University of Toronto and appreciated the opportunity to participate in an immersive experiential learning process while learning about the various arts and culture pathways that USMC, U of T offers.
