Loretto College School students attended a screening of Wicked: For Good, a film that meaningfully connects to learning across the ESL, HHS, and HSE curricula. The movie’s exploration of identity, friendship, social pressure, and justice offered rich opportunities for academic reflection.
For ESL students, the experience strengthened listening comprehension, vocabulary development, and oral communication through exposure to the film’s dialogue, music, and character interactions. Within the HHS curriculum, the story highlighted themes of prejudice, power structures, ethical decision-making, and female empowerment—core concepts in understanding human behavior and society. In HSE classes, themes of self-esteem, mental health, relationships, and societal expectations supported students in reflecting on personal well-being and social belonging.
Overall, this experience encouraged students to think critically about identity, relationships, and the influence of social narratives while enhancing their learning across multiple subject areas.
At Loretto College—the small school with a big heart—we believe that when girls are given the tools, encouragement, and opportunities they need, they can become successful women in the future!
