During this special season of Our Mother Mary, the Loretto College School community has participated in our first May for Mary Walk!
As part of our celebration of faith and community, the Mary Walk provided an opportunity for staff and students to journey throughout the school and explore the many images, apparitions, and titles of the Virgin Mary represented in different cultures and traditions around the world.
Throughout the walk, students encountered pictures and meanings highlighting various Marian Apparitions and Marian Titles or Devotions—the many ways people have experienced and honoured Mary through history. These included depictions of Mary as a mother, guide, protector, and woman of faith who continues to inspire compassion, courage, justice, and hope.
This experience invited students to:
Reflect on Mary’s role in our faith journey
Learn about diverse cultural expressions of Marian devotion
Take time for prayer, reflection, and spiritual connection within our school community - after each station you can say the Hail Mary to conclude your visit.
Inspired by the legacy of Mary Ward and the mission of the Loretto Sisters, the walk encouraged moments of peace, learning, and renewal for all.
The walk starts with the two paintings done by our own Evangeline Scott, inspired by Mary Ward, titled "The Foundress" as well as the second painting by Hannah Galvez, titled "Seven Sorrows of Mary." Beneath some of the Pictures are also colorings from Ms. Govaert's CO-OP Intensive Support Program (ISP) students.
