Loretto College School joyfully gathered at St. Nicholas of Bari Parish for our first school Mass of the year, celebrating the beginning of a new school year with faith, hope, and a renewed commitment to the Loretto community.
The Mass, “Beacons of Light,” reminded us that each member of our community has the ability to bring light to others through kindness, courage, compassion, service, and faith. As we begin this school year, we are called to be more than students and educators. We are called to be beacons of Christ’s light in our school, our families, and our wider community.
A special blessing was given by Father Joseph Bessala to all Loretto students, with a particular blessing for our Student Council members and staff. This blessing marked an important commitment for the year ahead: to lead by example, to serve others, and to help make Loretto College a place where every person feels welcomed, valued, respected, and loved.
Our Student Council members made a special commitment to embrace their leadership roles with responsibility, integrity, and compassion. They were reminded that true leadership is not about having a title. It is about serving others, listening, encouraging, and being a positive example.
Our staff also renewed their commitment to accompany and guide our students throughout the year, helping them grow in faith, knowledge, confidence, and compassion.
Rooted in the footsteps of Mary Ward, we are reminded that we are called to seek truth, act with courage, and put our faith into action. May the light we received at this Mass continue to shine brightly throughout our school year.
At Loretto College School, we are the small school with a big heart. We believe that when girls are given the tools, encouragement, and opportunities they need, they can become successful women in the future. We are Beacons of Excellence in all that we do.
