September was Suicide Awareness Month, an important time for schools and communities to focus on mental health, encourage meaningful conversations, and help create safe and supportive environments where everyone feels seen, valued, and cared for.
At Loretto College School, caring for one another is an important part of putting our faith into action. As a Loretto community, we are called to recognize the dignity and worth of every person and to ensure that no one feels alone.
Ms. Stidham’s Grade 12 Servant Leadership Religion class created a Kindness Wall during lunch as a way of bringing awareness to this important topic. Students and staff were invited to participate by writing encouraging and positive messages on colourful sticky notes and adding them to the Kindness Wall.
The wall quickly became a beautiful reminder that our words matter, our actions matter, and kindness can make a difference. Each message represented a small but meaningful act of encouragement and helped create a visible expression of the caring spirit that is at the heart of Loretto College.
This initiative reflects Loretto’s commitment to belonging, compassion, service, and putting our faith into action. Following in the footsteps of Mary Ward, we strive to build a community where everyone is welcomed, respected, supported, and reminded that they have a place here.
At Loretto, kindness is more than a message on a wall. It is a way of living. We are the small school with a big heart. We believe that when girls are given the tools, encouragement, and opportunities they need, they can become successful women in the future. We are Beacons of Excellence in all that we do.
