St. Michael's Choir School is proud to congratulate our students Ethan R. (from Grade 6) and Peter L. (from Grade 12) for winning National Gold Medals for 2023 from The Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) for their performances in Level 6 Guitar and Level 10 Organ respectively.

A National Gold Medal is awarded annually by the RCM to the student who has earned the highest mark on their practical examination for their discipline and level across the country. Students must have earned a minimum of 90% on their practical examination and have successfully completed the co-requisites for their discipline and level. National Gold Medals are awarded for levels 5-10 for Canada and the United States.

Ethan R., Grade 6

Ethan received a National Gold Medal from the RCM for his performance in Level 6 Guitar. As an award recipient, Ethan was invited to perform at the annual Celebration of Excellence in October 2023 at the RCM's Mazzoleni Hall, along with other medalists who achieved such outstanding results in their examinations due to their dedication.

Peter L., Grade 12

Peter received a National Gold Medal from the RCM for his performance in Level 10 Organ. Peter is currently working towards his Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Music Diploma (ARCT) in Organ, and studies with Dr. John Paul Farahat. Peter received the Gold Medal at a recent ceremony which included Mr. Alexander Brose (RCM President and CEO Designate) and Ms. Elaine Rusk (Vice President of Academics and Publishing).
