Accessing the TCDSB Guest Network using BYOD Laptop

Access to intranet.tcdsb.org was tested using a BYOD laptop running Windows XP SP3 and Internet Explorer 8.  This is the minimum level of computer configuration that will successfully connect to the TCDSB Guest network.

How do I connect to TCDSB Guest network?

A BYOD laptop running Windows XP SP3 with Internet Explorer 8 or Windows 7 or Windows 8 will automatically try to connect to TCDSB Guest network.  In this example, the computer found TCDSB-Guest network and presented this log on dialog. 
Enter your regular User Name and Password, press Submit.

If you receive any Security Alerts, answer the question with the appropriate response, either “Yes” or “OK”.

How do I access intranet.tcdsb.org from my BYOD laptop?

You must first be logged on to the TCDSB Guest network. 
Enter https://intranet.tcdsb.org in a browser.  The dialog below will appear.  Enter your regular Username and Password.

How do I access ESS (SAP Employee Self Service) from my BYOD laptop?

1.       You must be connected to the TCDSB Guest network.
2.       Enter intranet.tcdsb.org in a browser.
3.       Enter your username and password
4.       Select Applications, List of Applications.

5.       Select “ESS (SAP: Employee Self Service) from the list of applications.  Or select ESS icon on the left.

The SAP – Employee Self Service window will open.  The functions within the application can be selected.
 
 

How do I access Web Marks from a BYOD laptop?

1.       You must be connected to the TCDSB Guest network.
2.       Enter intranet.tcdsb.org in a browser.
3.       Enter your username and password
4.       Select Applications, List of Applications.
5.       Select Web Marks from List of Applications. 
6.       Enter Username and Password.

I cannot connect to TCDSB Guest network with my BYOD laptop

When using a BYOD (non-Board device) to connect to intranet.tcdsb.org through the TCDSB-Guest network, the problem shown below may occur. 
This computer is logging on using the user’s local account.  You need to select “Use another account”, enter CEC\username and password in the dialog window that appears.  You can now enter intranet.tcdsb.org in a browser and connect to TCDSB web applications.

How Do I connect to TCDSB-Guest Network

If you are not automatically connected to TCDSB-Guest network, open the Wireless Network Connection by clicking on network icon (Windows XP – Computers icon, Windows 7 - bars) in bottom right hand corner of the display beside the clock.  Select TCDSB-Guest and press Connect.
