A variety of trust fund awards and scholarships, as well as contests, are available to eligible Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) students, staff and trustees. The list of those that are administered by the TCDSB are listed  on the tabs below. All funds and awards are subject to change without notice.

 
Students are also encouraged to explore other opportunities that may exist through local service clubs, parents’ places of employment or post-secondary institutions.

  • External Awards, Scholarships and Bursaries
    The following awards, scholarships and bursaries are provided by organizations/individuals external to the TCDSB. The information remains posted for one year from the deadline for applications/nominations. The TCDSB, including its schools and staff, is not liable for the quality of service these organizations provide or for the privacy of the participants. In sharing this information, we are not endorsing their programs, services or products.       Ontario Medal for Young Volunteers
      Open to students from
      Eligible nominees for this award must be between 15 and 24 years old, be a resident of Ontario, have volunteered for a large amount of time with a charity, not-for-profit or person, be a role model for other young people and inspire them to volunteer. It is important to note that individuals cannot nominate themselves, people who are deceased, or an elected politician currently in office.

      Graduating Grade 12 Student: Canadian citizen, permanent resident or a protected person. Resident of Toronto within the 31 Division Boundary Officially enrolled and attending classes in a certificate program, part-time undergraduate degree program, full-time undergraduate degree program in the 2017-18 academic year. Demonstrate financial need Grade 12 Average of B+ or higher and a clear academic standing. Academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, community service and financial need

      This award recognizes individuals, groups and employers who help promote immigrant success, economic growth, and inclusion in Ontario. There are three categories – Inclusion and Diversity, Cross-Cultural Understanding, and Business Leadership in Immigrant Employment.

      CUPE Local 1328 Student Bursary
      Open to students from
      CUPE Local 1328 will present four (4) student bursaries to children of CUPE Local 1328 members currently in their graduating year of high school who have been accepted at a post-secondary institute for the fall to pursue a course of study leading to a degree or a diploma from the accredited University or a Community College of their choice. Recipients will be two (2) female and two (2) male. One male and one female bursary will be for University bound students and one male and one female bursary will be for College bound students. In addition to the completed application form, please include a personal cover letter outlining the following: • Contribution/Volunteer work within the school or community • Financial need and/or other personal challenges or obstacles

      Refugee and immigrant youth. Youth, aged 14-24, may apply for an award directly, or can nominate someone else to receive an award. Adults can only nominate someone else for an award.

      Any student entering a post-secondary institution or currently a resident and attending a school and in financial need will be able to qualify for the scholarship.

      The Rotary Club of Toronto Scholarship is a four year tuition scholarship awarded to an outstanding student graduating from a TDSB or TCDSB secondary school demonstrating financial need, academic excellence, moral character, leadership and breadth and depth of community service and who will be attending a College or University in the GTA.

      In recognition of Michael Monk’s 40 years of service to Catholic education, locally, provincially, and internationally, this award honors a Catholic elementary or secondary school that has led the way by implementing exemplary innovative program(s) to improve the learning of their students. The award recipient must display a sustained commitment to existing student engagement through a new initiative designed to further engage its student community.

      This year the Catholic Education Foundation of Ontario (C.E.F.O.) in partnership with RJ McCarthy’s will award grants to elementary schools up to a maximum of $1,000.00 per school. The total value of all grants cannot exceed $5,000.00 designated to support initiatives in the Catholic elementary schools of Ontario.

      Anyone living in Ontario is eligible for this medal, including federal, provincial and municipal representatives who are no longer in public office.

      Catherine Temple Mathematics Scholarship Award
      Open to students from
      A scholarship shall be awarded to a graduating female student pursuing studies in mathematics: i. Academic standing shall be the main criteria used in the selection of the recipient ii. The student will also have a record of significant contribution to the school community especially in areas related to mathematics (such as participation in a math club, in mathematics contests, etc.) iii. Financial need, in the broad sense, may be considered as a “tie breaker” in the event that there are a number of students who demonstrate academic merit

      2016 Wiesenthal Scholarship Program The Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Centre is pleased to announce that we are extending our 2016 Wiesenthal Scholarship Program.

      Jim Fay and James Gray Music Bursaries
      Open to students from
      1.Must be encountering financial barriers which impede the applicant’s study or practice of music. 2.Must be between 16 and 24 years of age in the calendar year of application. 3.Must currently play a musical instrument, and must be able to demonstrate musical talent and ability with the stated interest of furthering their study or practice in the field of traditional or folk music. 4.Must complete and submit an application no later than November 30th, 2014. Applications post-marked or emailed after this date may be considered for the following year.

      TD Scholarships for Community Leadership
      Open to students from
      TD Scholarships for Community Leadership are awarded to 20 students in their last year of high school who have shown leadership in improving their community. Each scholarship has a value of up to $70,000.

      The Ontario Knights of Columbus Bursary Program 
      Open to students from
      1) Candidates Eligible For An Ontario Knights Of Columbus Bursary Are: i. A member of the Knights of Columbus of Ontario in good standing. ii. The wife, son or daughter of a member in good standing. iii. The wife, son or daughter of a deceased member in good standing at the time of his death. iv. A grandchild who is the legal ward of a member in good standing. v. An active member of Ontario KofC Provincial Squires program 2) Candidates Must Have Applied For Admission Into A Full-Time Program At A University or College in Ontario. 3) Marks, although important, will not be the only criteria used by the Evaluating Committee. Proven financial need and service to church and community will be heavily weighted.
