A variety of trust fund awards and scholarships, as well as contests, are available​ to eligible Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) students, staff and trustees. The list of those that are administered by the TCDSB are listed  on the tabs be​low. All funds and awards are subject to change without notice.

 
Students are also encouraged to explore other opportunities that may exist through local service clubs, parents’ places of employm​ent or post-secondary institutions.

      Eligibility requirements:
      • Open to student(s) studying piano or vocal music at Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts

      Catherine Temple Mathematics Scholarship Award
      Eligibility requirements:
      • Graduating female TCDSB student pursuing post-secondary studies in mathematics
      • Academic standing shall be the main criteria used in the selection of the recipient
      • The student will also have a record of significant contribution to the school community especially in areas related to mathematics (such as participation in a math club, in mathematics contests, etc.)
      • Financial need, in the broad sense, may be considered as a “tie breaker” in the event that there are a number of students who demonstrate academic merit

      Eligibility requirements:
      • Female student graduating from St. Joseph’s Morrow Park Catholic Secondary School
      • Student must have minimum overall average of 80% to be considered
      • Student must have record of significant contribution to the school community (such as participation in student council, athletics, etc.)
      • Student must have demonstrated active involvement in the community (e.g. volunteering at a local charity, other volunteer work)
      • Financial need, in the broad sense, may be considered as a “tie breaker” in the event that there are a number of students who demonstrate academic and extra merit

      Eligibility requirements:
      • Must be a student from the graduating classes of St. Brigid Catholic School.
      • Award will be given on the recommendation of the School Principal with input from the parents of Alana Lynn Celestial and the school community.
      • Applicants must meet the following criteria:
      (a) Be in good academic standing at the time of the award;
      (b) Be held in high esteem by his/her peers for their consideration, thoughtfulness, help and kindness to others;
      (c) Have overcome personal difficulty in his/her life and be needy in a broad sense due to financial, social, or other issues beyond their control;
      (d) Have submitted an essay about their dreams and goals for their future.

      Eligibility requirements:
      • Annual award to recognize volunteers and bring national prominence to the contributions individuals, not-for-profit organizations, social enterprises and businesses make to their communities through volunteering.
      • Nominees can be individuals or groups, businesses, social enterprises or non-profit organizations and must meet specific eligibility criteria.
      • Political and public advocacy work is not eligible.

      • Professional victim services providers who have gone above and beyond their duties while supporting victims of crime
      • Programs, groups and organizations that deliver innovative services to victims of crime

      Eligibility requirements:
      • Open to student journalists in secondary schools across Canada
      • Students must submit a text, audio, video or mixed media story about a human rights issue created by them. The piece must have been published or broadcast with a school publication during the award application year.

      Allied Van Lines Scholarship
      Eligibility requirements:
      • Canadian Citizen (or permanent resident).
      • Enrolled (or enrolling) as full time student of accredited college/university within a Canadian province, for completion of undergraduate degree in Logistics or equivalent field.
      • Limit of one (1) entry per contestant.
      • Employees and professional affiliates of Allied Van Lines (and their immediate families) are not eligible.

      Eligibility requirements:
      • be of Jamaican descent

      • provide proof of acceptance to a community college or university

      Eligibility requirements:
      • Nominees must be Toronto residents or non-profit organizations.
      • Mino Bimaadiziwin (Indigenous Award): For those whose volunteer efforts have improved the well-being and advancement of the Indigenous community.
      • Disability Access Award: Given to a person, group or organization that has made a significant contribution towards improving access for people with disabilities.
      • Constance E. Hamilton Award for Women's Equality: Recognizes a resident whose actions have helped secure equitable treatment for women and gender non-conforming people in Toronto, either socially, economically or culturally.
      • Pride Award: Honours a person, group or non-profit organization that has made a significant or ongoing contribution to the well-being, advancement and inclusion of 2SLGBTQ+ communities in Toronto.
      • William P. Hubbard Race Relations Award: Awarded to a resident or organization that has made a significant contribution to challenge racism and support a more harmonious city.

      Rosalinda C. Javier Outstanding Students Awards
      Eligibility requirements:

      • Candidates will be chosen from those who have completed their elementary or high school or post-secondary studies (baccalaureate, master's or doctorate).
      • The selection criteria for top elementary and high school graduates include:
      1) scholastic achievement/academic marks – 50%,
      2) community involvement and extra-curricular activities – 20% and
      3) interview performance – 30%.

      Eligibility requirements:
      Nominees whose volunteer work falls into one or more of the following categories:
      • Being What's Needed: Demonstrated commitment to filling a critical need or important gap in service.
      • Inclusivity: Contributions that benefit members of the community facing barriers. Positive Change: Evidence of challenging stigmas and advocating for positive change.
      • Growth and Learning: Proof of exceptional personal or professional growth through volunteering.
      • Connection: Development of meaningful relationships with service-users, clients, and other volunteers.
      • Lifetime Achievement: A lifetime commitment to volunteering.

      Urban Hero Awards
      Eligibility requirements:
      • Awards are open to all residents of Toronto or individuals that work in Toronto above the age of 14, except for employees, their immediate families and anyone living with any employee of either of the Sponsors or any affiliate, advertising or promotional agency of the Sponsors.
      • Incomplete or illegible nominations, mechanically or electronically reproduced entries will not be accepted and will be disqualified.
      • Nominees in the youth category must have the permission of a parent or guardian in order to participate.

      Ted Rogers Scholarship Fund
      Eligibility requirements:
      • Scholarships are reserved for students already involved with the community partner organizations of the Ted Rogers Scholarship Fund. If you’re involved with of one of the community partners, reach out to them directly for more details on the application process.
      • Recipients are identified by Ted Rogers Scholarship Fund's community partners, who select individuals based on their community leadership.

      Ontario Junior Citizen Awards
      Eligibility requirements:
      • Any resident of Ontario, aged six to 17 years (must be at least six years, but no older than 17 years by the annual November 30th deadline)
      • Only individuals may be nominated.
      • Reasons for nominations may include
      -worthwhile community service;
      -special young people who are contributing while living with a physical or psychological limitation;
      -individuals have performed acts of heroism or bravery in the past year; excellence in personal achievements
      -individuals show a commitment to make life better for others and do more than is normally expected of someone their age.

      OECTA Young Authors Awards/Prix Jeunes Écrivains
      Eligibility requirements:
      • The awards celebrate the writing talents and accomplishments of students from Kindergarten to Grade 12, who submit short stories, poems, and nonfiction articles (e.g. reflection or report) written in either English or French.
      • There are three levels of competition: School, Unit, and Provincial. The first place winners at the School level advance to the Unit level, and the first place winners in each Unit advance to the Provincial competition. A collection of winning entries is published in book form each year.
      • Provincial winners are announced at the June Council of Presidents and certificates are issued to all provincial entries. Provincial plaques will be issued to all provincial winners and provincial winners will be published in a commemorative booklet.

      Eligibility requirements:
      • Be a high school student in grade 11 or 12 in Canada
      • Submit one letter of reference from a school staff member or community representative
      • Submit a personal outline (follow the instruction on application)
      • Submit an essay of approximately 1200 words
      • Submit required documents by required deadline.

      Eligibility requirements:

      • Natural-born Filipino or of Filipino descent (either parent is Filipino);
      • Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada;

      Previous Publication. Entries must be unpublished and original works of the Entrant. Each entry must be the work of a single author, not including a company or organization. Each entry must not infringe upon any copyright of any person or entity.

      Prior Contract.  Entries cannot be under contract, including for publication and/or broadcast in any medium. If an entry is placed under contract or made public after it is entered, it is rendered ineligible, and it is the responsibility of the Entrant to inform the Connor Prize of such publication or ineligibility.

      Publication Following Entry. If an entry Is published at any time before the winners of the Connor Prize have been announced, it will be rendered ineligible. Should the Connor Prize elect to publish or reproduce any Entry submitted, the Entrant hereby grants permission for such publishing or reproduction.
