ELEMENTARY SCHOOL REGISTRATION

Student On-line Application for Registration (S.O.A.R.) General Information

The Student Online Application for Registration (S.O.A.R.) form for elementary registration has been designed to be convenient, concise and helpful by utilizing guiding questions and on-line assistance to help parents through the completion of the application form. Our form is available to parents in the following languages: English, Arabic, Chinese, Czech, French, Italian, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Tagalog, Tamil, Ukrainian and Vietnamese.

Parents are required to register providing a valid e-mail address, password and their language preference.  On occasion, there may be a cause whereby the parent must exit the application form before completion. In this case, the parent may exit the on-line application form and be assured that the information they have entered, plus the date/time assigned to the application file number have been saved and can be accessed when they return to the form.

All elementary schools (grade JK to 8) have a fixed attendance boundary. Based upon the student’s residential address, the form will identify the community school, transportation eligibility, and the fixed attendance boundary. Parents are encouraged to apply to their community school, and if needed, complete the Out-of-Boundary Request section.  The child will be placed on a waiting list at the out-of-boundary school and the parent will only be notified if space is available.

Upon completion of the on-line application, the parent will be invited to book a meeting with the school.  Completing the form does not guarantee a registration or placement at the school. An e-mail will be sent to the parent and school confirming the meeting, including a list of original documents the parent must bring to the appointment.  Where possible, we invite the parent to bring their child to the meeting. A registration meeting with the school staff is necessary in order to review the application form with the parent, review original documentation requirements for registration, and discuss any educational or medical concerns the parent may have.

Student registrations will also be accepted in paper format, however, we encourage parents to complete their child’s application on-line.  If you do not have access to a computer at home, please consider using the computer at the public library or from the home of a friend.

* Note: This form is only used for elementary registrations. It is not to be used for secondary school registrations.
