March 12, 2026
Dear TCDSB Families,
As we look ahead to spring and the upcoming March Break, please see the below updates for helpful information and reminders for our school community.
2026 – 2027 Budget Engagement – Have Your Say
We are beginning to shape the 2026–2027 Toronto Catholic budget, and the voice of families is an important part of that work. This year, sharing your input is quick, interactive, and meaningful. On our budget website, you can take part in two engaging activities designed to gather your insights and help shape priorities for the year ahead.
Share your input by Friday, March 13.
2026–2027 School Calendar
The official school year calendar for the academic year beginning this September is now available to help families plan ahead for important dates such as the first and last day of school, holidays, PA Days, and school breaks.
Toronto Public Health Immunization Update
Toronto Public Health (TPH) has updated its Immunization of School Pupils Act (ISPA) program for the 2025–2026 school year. As part of these updates, suspensions related to immunization records have been paused for the remainder of this school year, meaning students will not be suspended under the ISPA during this time.
Families may still be contacted by Toronto Public Health if additional information is required.
Parent Guide to Special Education
The TCDSB Parent Guide to Special Education provides families with helpful information about Individual Education Plans (IEPs), the Identification, Placement and Review Committee (IPRC) process, and how students are supported through special education services. Parents also have the right to request an IPRC for their child. Beforehand, schools will meet with families to review the process, discuss the proposed identification and placement, and answer any questions. Visit our Special Education department website for more information.
Family Math Newsletter
The purpose of the TCDSB Mathematics Family Newsletter is to keep families informed about mathematics education at the TCDSB and help make math a positive and enriching experience at home.
New Kindergarten Curriculum (2026)
The Ministry of Education has released its new Kindergarten Curriculum (2026), which will take effect beginning in the 2026-2027 school year. Learn more about how the revised Kindergarten curriculum builds skills in reading, writing, math, and science to prepare children for Grade 1.
Updates to the Grades 7, 8, and 10 History Curriculum (Effective 2026–2027)
The Ministry of Education has released updates to the Grades 7, 8, and 10 History curriculum, which will take effect beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. The updated curriculum, which includes expanded learning about the contributions of Black Canadians, global historical events, and the impact of significant ideologies, is now available for families to review on the Ministry’s Curriculum and Resources website.
Student Family and Support Office
The Student and Family Support Office helps families navigate questions or concerns related to their child’s education in Toronto Catholic schools, particularly when an issue is complex or cannot be addressed at the school level.
Sincerely,
Toronto Catholic District School Board
