 Occasional Positions

 
  • Early Childhood Educator
    • ​​Occasional Early Childhood Educator

      We are currently accepting applications for the position of Supply Designated Early Childhood Educator. The primary function of the job is to cooperate and collaborate with the teacher(s) to support enhanced learning and cognitive, e motional and social development in accordance with the Education Act in delivering high quality and effective play-based Early Learning Program.

      The Board maintains a roster of temporary/casual staff for assignment to cover employee absences. Supply staff are assigned from a pool on an as-needed basis.​


      Please note the following are required as part of your application package:

      • Proof of educational credentials (Early Childhood Education Diploma is required).
      • Certificate of Registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators, required.

  • Education Assistant
    • ​S​upply Education Assistant

      We are currently accepting applications for the position of Supply Education Assistant. The TCDSB maintains a roster of temporary/casual staff for assignment to cover employee absences. Supply staff are assigned from a pool on an as-needed basis.

      The primary function of an Education Assistant is to provide assistance to students in the areas of spiritual, education, social, behavioural and physical needs. The position will often require-heavy lifting. Special programs encountered in the classroom include:

      • Autism
      • Behavioural
      • DD - Developmentally delayed
      • MH - Multiple Handicapped
      • Speech
      • Hearing (sing language)
      • Resource classes - learning disabilities
      • ME - Multiple Exceptionalities

      Please note the following are required as part of your application package:

      • Proof of educational credentials (minimum of grade 12 or Ontario equivalency). Preference will be given to those that hold an Education Assistant Diploma, a Child and Youth Worker Diploma, or a Child and Youth Care Diploma.
      • Pastoral Reference Letter from a Roman Catholic Parish, indicating you are a practicing Roman Catholic (dated within the past 12 months), or a Baptismal Certificate. (A positive pastoral reference will be required in order to be considered for a permanent position).

  • Occasional Library Technician
    • ​Occasional Library Technician

      We are currently searching for Qualified Library Technician candidates to be hired immediately on a daily occasional basis. In addition, we are seeking Unqualified Library Technicians to work on a daily occasional basis, or in annual long-term assignments.

  • Parenting and Family Literacy Centre
    • Occasional Parenting and Family Literacy Centre Staff Facilitator

      Our Parenting and Family Literacy Centres are school based programs where parents/caregivers and their children, from birth to six years of age, participate in play-based activities that promote the development of literacy and numeracy skills through discovery, inquiry, exploration and creativity. The programs are FREE and open to all. Our Parenting and Family Literacy Centres:

      • support children’s early learning and well-being of the whole child
      • promote positive parent-child interaction and engagement
      • help children transition more easily to kindergarten through a collaborative approach between parent/caregiver, program facilitator and kindergarten teacher
      • engage parents/caregivers positively with the school system using an inclusive approach
      • meet the unique and individual needs of families
      • assist and link families to community resources

  • Permanent Library Technician
    • Permanent Library Technician

      Please note that candidates must be practicing Roman Catholics verified through a pastoral reference.

      Qualifications:

      • Mandatory – O.S.S.D. (Grade 12 Diploma) plus a two-year Library and Information Technician Diploma. Consideration will be given to candidates nearing successful completion of the program.
      • Experience in library automation software, Microsoft Word and Windows applications and database management.
      • Demonstrated organizational, and office management skills (i.e., electronic technology and appropriate office equipment).
      • Ability to operate equipment; i.e., video camera, combination slide/television monitor, cassette duplicator, compact disc player, VCR scanners and other technological devices in a network environment.
      • Some of these positions may be itinerant and reliable transportation would be required.
      • Successful candidates (external applicants) will be required to provide a police reference check.

      Duties:

      • Display, promote and compile learning materials and bibliographic sources to support and supplement curriculum programs.
      • Make presentations to large and small groups of students as required.
      • Supervise students in the Library Resource Centre and other locations as required in emergency situations.
      • Establish and manage a competent system of administration for the Library Resource Centre that provides for efficient circulation procedures and effective use of space, time and materials.
      • Work effectively with staff and students in the use of a range of information sources including print and computer databases and provide guidance in locating materials.
      • Encourage an interest, appreciation and understanding in the use of books and other resources to promote learning.
      • Classify and catalogue learning resources and maintain catalogue and inventory applying technological advances in accordance with established Board procedures.
      • Establish the operation and maintenance of lending, renewing, reserving and recalling system for materials and equipment; institute follow-up procedures for overdue material; shelve and/or file returned materials.
      • Maintain an inventory and develop a system of control for equipment and arrange for servicing where applicable.
      • Process materials; i.e., install security strips, affix bar codes, spine labels, school identification, and covering; remove from circulation unused, outdated and irreparable materials.
      • Other duties as assigned by the Principal.

  • Psychologist Psychological Associate or Psychoeducational Consultant
    • Psychologist Psychological Associate or Psychoeducational Consultant

      The Toronto Catholic District School Board is currently using Apply to Education to search for Psychologist Psychological Associate or Psychoeducational Consultant candidates to work on an occasional basis.

      • Half-time and full-time positions (contract and permanent)

      Work Year:
      • School Year Plus Six (6) Working Days
      • Applications are invited for the position of psychologist or psychological associate/psychoeducational consultant with duties to commence immediately

      Duties/Responsibilities:
      • Psychological assessment/intervention and prevention services on behalf of students
      • Consultation with school personnel and parents and community agencies
      • Work as a member of a multidisciplinary team under the administrative and professional supervision of the Chief Psychologist.

      Qualifications:
      • Ph.D. or Masters Degree in applied psychology with a focus on children and adolescents
      • Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario
      • A valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a car.

    • Supply Secretary

      We are currently accepting applications for Supply Secretary. The Supply Secretary will replace the permanent Secretary to provide secretarial and clerical support necessary for the efficient operation of the elementary and secondary school offices and Board offices in their absence.

      The Board maintains a roster of temporary/casual staff for assignment to cover employee absences. Supply staff are assigned from a pool on an as-needed basis.

      Please note the following are required as part of your application package:

      • Proof of educational credentials (minimum of grade 12, or Ontario equivalency).
      • A required typing speed of 45 words per minute.
      • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 2016 is required.

    • Supply Caretaker

      We are currently accepting applications for the position of Supply Caretaker. The primary function of the job is to maintain a clean, safe, healthy and efficient environment within designated schools and Board offices. Duties include shift work, floor cleaning, washroom maintenance, furniture moving, grounds care and operate power cleaning equipment, in accordance with established standards.

      The Board maintains a roster of temporary/casual staff for assignment to cover employee absences. Supply staff are assigned from a pool on an as-needed basis.

      Please note the following are required as part of your application package:

      • Proof of educational credentials (minimum requirement is completion of grade 10 or Ontario equivalency)

      All Supply Caretakers are expected to be available all shifts, Monday through Friday, as follows:
      (1) Day shift: 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, (2) Mid-shift: 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm, (3) Afternoon shift: 3:30 pm to 11:30 pm, and (4) Overnight shift: 11:00 pm to 7:00 am.
