Dear Parents and Guardians,
The Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) has been placed under supervision by the Ministry of Education. Mr. Frank Benedetto has been appointed as the TCDSB’s Supervisor to provide oversight and support to the Board.
As part of the conditions of this supervision, effective immediately as directed by the Ministry of Education, communication that would normally be facilitated through a trustee should now be directed to the Office of the Director of Education. Our team is here to support you—please do not hesitate to reach out if you need assistance. Below, we have outlined the most effective and efficient ways to communicate based on the nature of your concern.
As we approach the new school year, parents and guardians are asked to begin by addressing school-related matters at the school level, in recognition that those closest to the classroom are often best equipped to support timely and effective solutions:
Teacher: Start by contacting your child’s teacher for any classroom-related concerns, including homework, assignments, and report cards.
Principal: If additional support is needed, contact the school principal. They can also assist with issues such as student registration, special education, transportation, suspensions, and school safety.
Superintendent: If the matter remains unresolved by the principal, reach out to your school superintendent. They can assist with issues such as alternate attendance requests, suspension appeals, and safe school matters.
Board Governance: For concerns related to Board governance or system-wide decision-making, such as the budget, funding allocation, student programming, or Board policies, please contact the Office of the Director of Education at OfficeOfTheDirector@tcdsb.org.
Human Rights and Equity: If you have a question, concern, or would like to raise an issue related to the human rights of students, families, staff, or the broader school community, please contact our Human Rights and Equity Advisor.
For more information on how to address school-related concerns, please visit our Student/School Related Concerns page.
We remain committed to serving our students and families through this transition and to upholding the values and traditions of excellence in Catholic education.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
Sincerely,
Dr. Brendan Browne
Director of Education
